At the end of October, In-Planet will be the host of the "Dropping Out School for Work? Out of the Question!" Training Course. The main topic is to adress youth workers regarding the issue of school drop out. The general aim of this exchange is for the youth participants to develop strategies and mechanisms to fight against school drop out in their communities.
The countries involved in this project are Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Slovakia, Turkey, Portugal and United Kingdom. Each country will have four youth leaders who will attend the seminaries and the workshops.
As a result of the economical crisis that is happening across Europe, the phenomenon of school drop out started to reach worrying proportions. Young people are focusing more on short-term solutions that will help them earn money instead of staying in school. On the long run though, this behaviour ends up diminishing their chances of having a long-lasting and fulfilling career. In-Planet aims, through this project, to find the best means of changing these facts by providing the youth workers with the right instruments that will help them in their activities.
The activities carried throughout this training course are based on formal and nonformal education such as special workshops, role-playing games, simulation games, questionnaires, team work activities and also presentations that will make use of the modern technologies. This way we want to provide the participants not only with the information they need, but also with the practical skills that will help them apply the strategies discussed during the exchange.
We would like to send our special thanks to the „Smile of the child” organisation who helped us, like many other times, in our efforts of raising awareness about topics concerning young people. Their contribution is highly appreciated both in matters of technical support and expertise but also in matters of dissemination of the program.
